“Early diagnosis saves lives”
Help Those With Cancer Association President Ayse Kanliada, emphasized that early diagnosis of cancer saves lives.
HTWCA President Ayse Kanliada, who held a press conference at the Association building on the occasion of “1-31 March Prostate Cancer Awareness and Consciousness Month”, noted that cancer has become an important health problem that is increasing, is frequently seen in our country as well as all over the world, and threatens people in the 40s and above age group.
In order to successfully fight the disease, Kanliada drawed attention to the need to create and raise awareness among members of society about early diagnosis and prevention of cancer.
She stated that cancer is a disease that significantly affects people's lives, affecting not only individuals but also families, societies, states and countries.
Kanliada emphasized the importance of the fight against cancer by establishing "National Cancer Control Programs" under the roof of the goverment and carrying them out in an uninterrupted and scientific manner. She also said “Early diagnosis of prostate cancer, which is a type of cancer that develops over a long period of time and is quite silent, can be detected early with a screening method specific to this type of cancer and if detected, it is a type of cancer that has a high chance of leading a healthy life with treatment.
Kanliada said that the exact reasons that play a role in the formation of prostate cancer, as in other types of cancer, are not fully known in cancer data.

‘PSA Test Screening’ will be held throughout March
Kanliada announced that ‘PSA Test Screening’ will be carried out in central locations determined throughout the island between March 1-31 due to “Prostate Cancer Awareness Month” and emphasized the importence of participation in these screenings. Kanliada noted that as a result of the meetings held with the Near East University and the Association of Laboratories for the Prostate Cancer Awareness Month screenings, Prolab Tıbbı Tahlil Laboratuvarı, Referans Laboratuvarı in Nicosia, Erduran Laboratuvarı in Kyrinea, and the Yöntem Laboratuvarı in Famagusta and Omorfo will provide services. Kanliada also stated that blood collection will be carried out with the Near East University mobile vehicle.
Stating that the association will start its activity on Monday, March 3 at 10:30 from the Presidency, Kanlıada shared the screening program as below;
According to the program, the screenings will take place on Monday, March 3rd between 09:30-11:00 at the Parliament Building, on Wednesday, March 5th between 10:00-12:00 at the Kyrenia Market, on Thursday, March 6th between 10:00-12:00 at the Famagusta Market, on Friday, March 7th between 10:00-12:00 at the Iskele Market, and on Sunday, March 9th between 10:00-12:00 at the Nicosia Market.
